Events

There are a number of events already planned and these can be viewed on the "2009 Calendar" tabs. If you have any suggestions in relation to the types of functions you would like us to consider then please drop us a line by emailing to info@kastellorizo.com.au

There are standard functions throughout the year, however, the committee is always aware of making a concerted effort to increase the number of social events and offer its members the opportunity to meet and mix on a more regular basis.

Please go to the 2009 Calendar for full details on all events.

The Ithacan Philanthropic Society Anniversary Ball - 2009

Michael and Dianne Spartels attended the Ithacan Philanthropic Society Anniversary Ball - 2009 which was held at Leonda Receptions, Hawthorn.

The Ithacan President, Mr Nick Varigos, presented the Kaztellorian Association's President in Michael Spartels, with two laminated photographs of the old 'Leski' in Lonsdale Street, Melbourne which his late Father-in-law Stathis Raftopoulos had in his archives. Peter and Linda Coates also attended

In his acceptance speech, Michale Spartels made mention of the Kastellorizian and Ithacan closeness and similar backgrounds. "The only difference bewteen us is the island, the rest is the same" said Michael Spartels..

The inaugural Kazzie Art Exhibition - 2009

As scheduled on the 2009 Calendar we orgainsed our first Kazzie Art Exhibition on Sunday 15th March held at the Kazzie Clubrooms. Over 130 attendees filled the club rooms to the brim whilst they viewed some exceptional paintings and photography.

Thanks to the support of the Kastellorizian members, their families and non-Kastellorizian's it was a great day all round. For those members and their families that didn't attend you missed out on a well presented exhibition featuring artwork by Jack Condous and Beryl Georgakopoulos.

The nature of the event and attendance is a good reason for members to encourage their families to more actively participate. The Committee is endeavouring to generate increased interest by arranging such events as we see  participation by today's youth as essential.

Photographs and Giclee Prints that Jack displayed of Kastellorizo were brilliant.  Beryl's exhibition of Water Colours & Acrylics were fantastic.  A very professional Master of Ceremonies was Mia Greves (Channel 7 Journalist) who gave us a
history of her connection to Kastellorizo.

Paintings and prints were also available for sale and you can refer to catalogues at the 2009 Calendar section. If you would like more information or are intersted in purchasing some artwork then please email us at info@katellorizo.com.au
